So, I was casually checking for Nintendo Wii and when I searched for it on Google, the first ad I got was Walmart’s advertisement of Nintendo. So, I clicked on the link to see what price Walmart is selling it for (I may have been a potential customer). And guess what I saw when I visited Walmart? The item is sold out! So, it just cost Walmart the click of an ad on the top section and first position!
I think, many companies who advertised agressively for some of their key products during this thanksgiving, after having completely sold them out, may either forgot to stop the advertisement or don’t have good systems in place to detect this. Ofcourse, Google provides APIs to be able to do precisely this. But when companies like Walmart are not doing this, I wonder how many are really using the AdWords APIs.
